“Hana Miletić’s camera does not record what could be referred to as spectacle (for masses). Her view does not sting; it does not set rules nor makes judgment. She does not supervise the situation, but only notices a certain paradox which testifies of how little it takes to shift the tab on the scale of prejudices, if we were to allow it to happen.Hana Miletić’s working space, her equipment and tools, consist of economy and aesthetics,of politics and desire for something that has remained behind and changed inevitably. She (accidentally) encounters real situations and persons which speak of complex social relations. Many, seemingly invisible things can be transferred and interpreted from them. Photography is never alone. It is a part of constitutive nature of art, of circulation between what is noticed and the one who notices. It is a repository of the intellectual and physical movement. Hana Miletić attributes to it a carefully selected word – a potential image, if we try to imagine everything it comprises.”
Croatian-born (1982) Brussels-based Hana Miletić explores the residues and upheavals of political changes while looking at the formation of subjectivity, on the level of both the individual and the community. She creates, amongst other, printed matter, performances and installations. She holds a ma in Art History and Archaeology (Vrije Universiteit Brussel, 2005) and a mfa in Photography (Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp,2009). In 2014-2015 she was a participant at Van Eyck Maastricht. In 2015 she won the Bozar prize within the framework of the Young BelgianArt Prize.
