Spot Gallery and Institute for Contemporary Art Zagreb\u00a0announce the opening of an exhibition\u00a0All or Nothing<\/em><\/strong>\u00a0<\/strong>by renown\u00a0Croatian\u00a0photographer\u00a0Marko Ercegovi\u0107.<\/strong><\/p>\n

The exhibition will present his newest photo series and it will be held simultaneously on two locations: at the Spot Gallery<\/strong> (\u010cani\u0107eva 6, Zagreb) the author will present part of the series titled All or Nothing<\/em><\/strong> and at the Institute for Contemporary Art<\/strong> (Trg kralja Tomislava 20) the visitors will have an opportunity to see second part of the series, titled Freedom Frightens Me<\/strong><\/em>.<\/p>\n

The reaction of the camera is unpredictable when confronted with the recorded \u2013 everything that I see in front of me, I see differently than the camera. That tells me that I cannot trust my eyes: these photographs, at least for me, are all or nothing.<\/span><\/p>\n

Every click is accompanied by a feeling of a plane plummeting. Surrounded by everyday life \u2013 a limitless scene worthy of being photographed \u2013 I do not believe in backing out; I press the camera against my face and, as a one-eyed man with no sense of balance, I take photographs. Giving up on the ordinary is a defeat, while constructing the extraordinary is constructing restraints: the composition in photography is the architecture of prison. <\/span><\/p>\n

I record these photographs as brazenly as I can, believing that each scene I photograph is done so in an act of friendship: the camera lens is a hand extending a handshake. From recording to displaying these photographs, implicated somewhere in the sight, persists the documentation of my own submergence in\u00a0the horrifying and free scene. Ultimately, photographs are built directly from life.<\/span><\/p>\n
