The promotion of a new monograph of the conceptual artist, painter, poet and essayist, Vlado Martek<\/b>, will be held on Saturday, 15th December at 12:00, at the Library Bogdan Ogrizovi\u0107\u00a0<\/b>in Zagreb. This publication is completely dedicated to Martek\u2019s work in photography, presenting the medium as a conceptual form. The book, entitled Preparing for Photography<\/i><\/b>, published by the Office for Photography<\/b>, gathers a series of the author\u2019s works in the medium of photography, created in the period from the 1970s to today. According to the concept of the graphic editor Rafaela Dra\u017ei\u0107<\/b>, the publication is divided into three separate booklets \u2013 a booklet with a text by Sandra\u00a0<\/b>Kri\u017ei\u0107 Roban<\/b>, a booklet with almost hundred reproductions, and a booklet which contains an interview with the artist, providing a fresh insight into an extensive segment of his work and thoughts about art, mediums, text and meanings.<\/span><\/p>\n

The publication will be introduced, alongside the author, by the editor and author of the text, prof. Sandra Kri\u017ei\u0107 Roban, <\/b>PhD, reviewer\u00a0Leonida Kova\u010d<\/b>, PhD,\u00a0Jasna Jak\u0161i\u0107\u00a0<\/b>(Museum of Contemporary Art), and Darko \u0160imi\u010di\u0107\u00a0<\/b>(Tomislav Gotovac Institute). The book will be available at a promotional discount price.<\/span><\/p>\n

“In accordance with the tendencies of taking art as an open field, in which an artist could do whatever he thought he should be doing, and adopting the Fluxus principle of action in which there was no difference between art and life, and in which everyday life, routine, and banality were legitimate ways of artistic expression, from the mid-1960s Martek explored and experimented with various media. (…) Photography has a special place in his oeuvre, primarily because it is ‘closest to the words’, as he says, close to poetry and and automatic script (…). At some point, Martek started using photographs as finished poems, as hyper-content, accepting their volatile nature and their ability to function as background and an object, as a trace rather than evidence.” (from the text by Sandra Kri\u017ei\u0107 Roban)<\/p>\n
