A record 78 applications were received in response to the open call issued by the Office for Photography and the Spot Gallery for the exhibition and programme cycle in 2027, confirming the continued growth of interest among artists, curators and other professionals in the Office for Photography’s programmes. Of the total number of applications, 47 were submitted for the Spot Gallery Annual Programme, 16 for Young SPOTs, 8 for the educational-discursive programme SPOTIZACIJA, and 7 in the Photography Book category.

Applications were assessed in relation to the category in which they were submitted, taking into consideration the quality and clarity of the proposals, their relevance to the field of photography and related media, the artistic or curatorial approach, and their feasibility within the spatial, temporal, technical and production capacities of Spot Gallery and the Office for Photography. In the Young SPOTs category, particular emphasis was placed on the development potential of the proposals and the artists, the clarity of the initial idea, the artist’s motivation, and the possibility of further developing the project through a mentoring process.
The jury responsible for evaluating the submitted proposals consisted of Maša Bajc, Ivan Gundić, Glorija Lizde, Bojan Mrđenović and Hrvoje Slovenc, alongside Office for Photography members Sandra Križić Roban, Sara Mikelić, Tena Starčević and Ivana Završki.

No proposal was selected for inclusion in the 2027 programme in the Photography Book category.
The selected proposals will be included in the proposed annual programme of Spot Gallery and the Office for Photography for 2027 and submitted to funding calls issued by the Ministry of Culture and Media of the Republic of Croatia and the City of Zagreb, as well as to similar funding opportunities. The jury’s decision constitutes a programme proposal, while the final realisation of individual exhibitions and programmes will depend on the funding ultimately approved. Production, spatial, scheduling and financial conditions will be agreed at a later stage with the selected artists, curators and programme leads.
