Ivan Posavec

He was born in 1951, in Družica near Sisak.

He came to Zagreb in 1969 to study veterinary medicine, but reaching his senior year he dropped out in order to focus on photography. He graduated cinematography in 1980, in the class of prof. Nikola Tanhofer at the Academy for Theater, Film and Television in Zagreb, and received his master’s degree in photography in 1984, in the class of prof. Dragoljub Kažić at the Academy of Applied Arts in Belgrade.

His workshave been acquired by the Museum of Contemporary Art and the Museum of Arts and Crafts in Zagreb and the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Rijeka. In 1992, he won the “Tošo Dabac” award, and in 2003, he won the City of Zagreb Award, as well as fifty other awards. In 1979 he founded the MO group with his colleague Mijo Vesović. He is a member of ULUPUH, and he has been working in photojournalism for over thirty years.
