Winning photo series from 2023, Vid Redža
The VID Foundation for Photography is dedicated to untold visual stories from the Balkans through its grant and mentorship programs. The support is intended for visual storytellers who shed light on often invisible but important social issues from the Balkan region (Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Bulgaria, Croatia, Greece, Kosovo, Moldova, Montenegro, North Macedonia, Romania, Serbia, and Slovenia). The Foundation’s goal is to bring outstanding and powerful visual stories from the Balkans closer to the Netherlands and the wider European context, while fostering a vibrant regional photographic community where photography and visual storytelling can become a sustainable career path for young and emerging artists.
Activities:

VID Grant – annual award for the best young photographers and visual artists from the Balkans.

Webinars – practical advice for applications, project development, and presenting one’s work.

Talks – online meetings between regional photographers and international experts.

Online promotion – showcasing Balkan authors on the website and social media.

Exhibitions – works of the grant recipients are presented in the Netherlands and across the Balkans.

Partnerships – collaboration with local and international organizations to strengthen the photographic scene.
The main award amounts to €1,000, and the conditions and details for applying can be found here. The deadline for applications is Thursday, September 4, 2025, at 5 PM CET.
